October 15, 2008 National Label and Whitemarsh Business Association sponsor 25th Annual Craft Market National Label of Lafayette Hill and the Whitemarsh Business Association have generously agreed to sponsor the art center’s signature fundraiser. The event will be held December 4th through the 7th.
October 10, 2008 Pennsylvania Council on the Arts awards grant for Seniors’ outreach The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts announced a grant to the Whitemarsh Art Center to provide outreach art programs to Whitemarsh area senior citizens. The grant will allow the art center to provide classes to seniors at its Cedar Grove Park location as well as off-site at senior centers and residential communities.
September 15, 2008 Target Provides Grant for Children’s Outreach Target announced on September 15th a grant to the Whitemarsh Art Center to provide outreach art programs to children in the Whitemarsh area. The program will make art classes available to children who otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in such programs.
September 11, 2008 Recycling Program Whitemarsh Art Center together with Whitemarsh Township are helping the students at St. Philip Neri Elementary School to go “green”. The center has received funding from McNeil Pharmaceuticals to produce on-site educational workshops for the students at St. Philips to learn the amazing possibilities for using recycled materials for the creation of artwork. The workshops will take place this fall and will be provided to grades one through eight.
July 31, 2008 Logo Contest The Whitemarsh Art Center is growing. To reflect our growth and new energy the board of directors has decided to update its brand and logo. July 11, 2008 New Office Administator The Whitemarsh Art Center announced the addition of Kitty Strzelecki as office administrator. Kitty is participating in Goodwill Industries “Seniors to Work” program, which provides retraining to local seniors who are seeking to re-enter the workforce. Kitty will be joining the Whitemarsh Art Center on August 18, 2008. She has extensive administrative experience and will provide much needed support to the daily operations of the art center.
June 24, 2008 Upcoming Events Confirmed The executive committee of the Whitemarsh Art Center confirmed plans to hold its annual Craft Market. The market will be held December 5th, 6th and 7th with a preview party on December 4th. The committee also announced plans to hold a 45th anniversary party for the art center sometime in the spring 2009. Details for the event are being worked out and will be announced later in the year.
June 1, 2008 New Executive Director The board of the Whitemarsh Art Center named Christopher Dwyer to the position of Executive Director. Chris comes to the art center after spending a decade as the development director for a non-profit organization in Bucks County. Chris has a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Tyler School of Art. In addition to his years of nonprofit development, Chris also spent five years managing an art gallery and studio facility and nearly fifteen years operating a graphic design and advertising consulting business.
